Fuxian Lake

Fuxian Lake (抚仙湖) is located in the area connecting Chenjiang (澄江), Jiangchuan (江川) and Huaning (华宁) counties. It is about 60 kilometers from Kunming (昆明). It is a half-closed plateau lake, so the water of the lake comes from the surrounding streams and rivers, underground springs and rainfall. The lake is so clear that the deepest visibility can reach 12.5 meters. Thus the water quality of Fuxian Lake ranks the 1st in Yunnan and it is also one of the clearest inland fresh lake in China.

The average elevation of Fuxian Lake is about 1,725 meters, which is in the moderate plateau area (1500-2400 m). Moderate plateau air density is only 77% of the level of an altitude plane. Oxygen content is only about 3/4 of the level of the plain area, and oxygen is greater than 20-25% of the plain area.
